About Me
I was raised in Zambia, a place that shaped much of who I am and gave me a strong appreciation for different cultures, communities, and perspectives. Growing up there taught me to be adaptable, curious, and comfortable figuring things out on my own. Those qualities have stayed with me throughout my life and continue to influence the way I approach both my personal interests and my work.
I am an engineer by background, and I have always been naturally drawn to understanding how things work. For me, engineering is not just about solving problems on paper—it is also about curiosity, experimentation, and the satisfaction of taking something apart, understanding its pieces, and putting it back together in a better or more useful way. I genuinely enjoy tinkering, whether that means working with computers, experimenting with software, troubleshooting a technical problem, or simply exploring something new to see what I can make it do.
One of my biggest interests is Linux, particularly Ubuntu and the many other distributions that make up the Linux world. I enjoy the freedom and flexibility Linux provides, as well as the opportunity to understand what is happening underneath the surface. I like working from the command line, configuring systems, experimenting with servers, solving problems, and learning through hands-on experience. What I enjoy most is that Linux encourages you to be curious. There is almost always another layer to discover, another configuration to understand, or another way to solve a problem.
My interest in technology is very much connected to my personality. I like figuring things out rather than simply accepting that something works a certain way. If a computer, server, application, or piece of software is not behaving as expected, I enjoy digging into the problem and finding the reason behind it. Sometimes the process can be frustrating, but there is a real sense of accomplishment when everything finally works.
Outside of technology, I have a strong love for soccer. I enjoy both watching and following the game, and I appreciate the combination of skill, strategy, teamwork, creativity, and individual brilliance that makes soccer so compelling. I also enjoy chess, which appeals to a different part of my personality. Chess is a game of patience, planning, calculation, and anticipation. I like the fact that every move creates new possibilities and that success often comes from thinking several steps ahead.
Another important part of my everyday life is my dog, Yogi. Walking Yogi gives me a chance to step away from computers and technology and simply enjoy being outside. Those walks are a nice balance to my more technical interests and provide time to think, relax, and enjoy the simple things around me. Yogi also has a way of making a routine walk feel like an event.
Overall, I would describe myself as curious, hands-on, and always interested in learning something new. My background in Zambia, my engineering mindset, my love of tinkering, and my interests in Linux, soccer, chess, and spending time with Yogi all reflect different parts of who I am. I enjoy understanding how things work, solving problems, exploring new ideas, and continuing to learn. Whether I am troubleshooting a Linux system, thinking through a chess position, watching a soccer match, or simply walking Yogi, I like being engaged with the world around me and finding something interesting in it.
